Mulroney
The "Globe and Mail" and the CBC's "Fifth Estate" are proud that they have unearthed more details on Brian Mulroney's receipt of $300,000 in cash while still in office.
They have a right to be happy.
However, I can't help but wonder whether the Canadian people need a full public inquiry on all this. What's worse, to let BM keep his illegal $300,000 or spend millions on an investigation (a la the 'sponsorship scandal')?
Mulroney just had a chance to tell his side of the story in his autobiography, but he opted to duck the matter entirely.
Now presumably, we'll get months of media investigations -- to the detriment of other much more important journalism that is urgently needed.
